Dance inspires me so much. I love to dance, though I have very little training - mostly I just love to move to the beat. I really, really love to watch others dancing, too, especially trained dancers who do it well. It's so inspiring, and sometimes churns a spark of creativity within me. I think that's why I love watching shows like
So You Think You Can Dance and
Breaking Pointe so much (Allison's ridiculous drama on the latter show notwithstanding). My favorite styles to watch are ballet, contemporary, and bollywood.
I saw this performance on SYTYCD a few weeks ago, danced by Amelia and Will and choreographed by the utterly brilliant Sonya Tayeh. It brought me to tears, and then it took my breath away. When it was over I may have also screamed something like "OH MY GOD!!" a few times, and pounded the couch for emphasis.
Do you have a favorite style to dance, or to watch others dance? Please share in the comments!
Wow, that was amazing! It's almost like they can read each other's minds.
ReplyDeleteI love dancing. :) I did classes for 8 years when I was younger but these days just dance to music at home with my 3 year old lol.
The dancers on this show continually amaze me! I working together so closely for days on end, you get to know each others' movements and styles, and it becomes easier to partner each other.
DeleteI don't think it matters where you dance, or who you dance with - be it a dance class or your 3 year old. The joy of dancing is the most important part, IMHO :)
My dear, I hope you are not just watching but you are dancing as well! I wanted to let you know that I’ve nominated you for two blog awards! http://www.thedomesticpagan.net/2012/08/iblog-awards.html
ReplyDeleteOh, I dance too! Mostly just around my house, and sometimes at club, but yet I dance.
DeleteThank you so much for the nomination, that is very sweet of you!
